About Solutions Focused Hypnotherapy
First of all let me start with an answer to one of the questions I get asked most often...'Will you make me do something silly?' The simple answer is no.
Solutions Focused Hypnotherapy is very different to stage hypnotherapy and you will be in control at all times meaning that you will not do anything you do not want to do.
Solutions Focused Hypnotherapy is a very effective combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis, together we look at what you want to achieve and find ways to focus on ways to improve the situation (The Solution) in a relatively short period of time.
Hypnosis is very different to sleep, you are guided into an relaxed state where your mind goes into trance. During trance I will guide you through some visualisations where I can give beneficial suggestions directed towards your subconscious mind. Most people actually go into trance many times a day often without even realising it, for example have you ever found yourself driving along a road and you can't remember how you got to where you are? Or while watching television you realise you have stopped listening and your mind is wandering? It is very similar to daydreaming.
Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety and this is done very simply through relaxation and visualisation, allowing the client to focus on the positive aspects of their lives that encourages a shift in perspective. Hypnotherapy can also help with depression (if necessary in conjunction with medication), self esteem, confidence, weight management, stoping smoking, fears and phobias, IBS, pain, overwhelm and more. New research is showing that many conditions, illnesses or pain can be worsened by stress, depression or anxiety. High levels of stress can reduce the effectiveness of our immune system. Due to the effects of stress on our digestive system some doctors are now even suggesting hypnotherapy as a treatment for IBS.
